Just a question: this is a rant topic, and yet it is in "Best of Brazil." Shouldn't it be in the "Vent your Frustrations" section?

Maybe when I meet Brazilians in the US I'll be telling them they're here to 'exploit' our economy, to 'take' our women and all the other BS I heard for years in Rio.

And then I'll say, but we are friendly midwestern people! We drink and have fun and don't have political corruption! Any sort of minor problem, 'Get out of here Brazucca! Go back to the jungle!'

Only, I won't do that! I am what makes the US great, and Brazil a hole. Pro-immigrant, pro-diversity, friendly. That's why this is where everyone goes. It's not just economics.

The only expats in Brazil have a specific reason to be there (family or business) or are sex tourists. Maybe about 100 don't fit into those categories. Rio is chock-full of lowlifes and snobs.

There are millions of immigrants who make the US their happy home!

MOST HONEST AND REAL POST I SEEN HERE .  THANK YOU .

Hey, I'm not against you here, based on what you've said, you did the right things Ramon.

The only thing you might not have understood (and with good reason, because it's a building block of American culture, but you assumed wrongly was a necessity for society to survive as well) is the dynamics of trust, which you're used to being almost black or white and clearly didn't fully understand that verifying trust was 100% your responsibility and not your "friends".
There is just so much to do in Brazil, and so little time to do it all! Planning my next Brazil Vacation and the countdown has started!

I'm sorry, Ramon, but why do you still bother to come? You don't feel comfortable here, and you don't have friends or family here either (do correct me if I'm wrong.) I admit life here isn't easy, so there are many other places in Latin America where people might accept you. Buenos Aires, for instance, is a nice place to travel to, and it even has some gorgeous snow!

Now imagien i have this attitude in RIO ?

big double standard , brasilians can be rude , never speak english , and dont care to assimulate and fly their flags on their car rear vew mirrors and bumper sticker on the back, and as american , if do this in RIO i would be burned alive .

It's not that they do not trust one another specifically. It is that circles of trust are much tighter and more confined. I'm looking forward to doing business all over this growing array of countries left behind! There is a sense of high risk = high reward throughout the land and that's kind of exciting!
