I am confused.  What's all the hype about being paid for?  If I wasn't paid correctly for my services, I would be asking why too.  Let me refer to my spell checker before I post this or I might be fired from this site.

Outofhere06,
Sadly, you are a week behind the times, and your small attempt at humour really isnt funny,,,,,,,,,,,,

You appear to know less than 1/2 of the facts yet saw fit to post about them?

Oh well, to each his own, im sure everyone will ignore you like i should have done.

Gosh C.Specialist Walker,

I was only trying a bit of light humor.  Ignore me all you want.  I don't care.  I was on your side in case you weren't intelligent enough to see that.

After 23 replies, only one that addresses the topic...

Particularly intelligent stuff from hityl2000 pouncing on a typing error like an overenthusiastic child and completely diverting the topic of the thread.

So, anyway, 10 months later, going back to the original tropic, can anyone give more advice relating to what a person might be able to charge for private classes?

Sorry you were stuck on this one forum as there are several others which equally and adequetly cover fees.

R$50 is certainly possible dependant on your qualifications, R$35 more realistic. There are so many other factors such as level of student, distance travelled between lessons amongst other things. These factors can make a big hole in what you earn. You can make as much as R$75 from one student a day, running from metro to bus in SP, but making R$20 an hour at a school for a few hours a day might be better in the long run.

well after reading some of the comments I see there are some sensitive individuals in the forum

My grammer is terrible , I speak mostly slang. but I speak English the way its spoken on the street ,TV , and the movies, as well as most business transactions are spoken , some of the posters here need to get over themselves

Any job offers for a native English speaker , slang and all  ??

Rio De Janeiro area

I counted at least 10 mistakes in your post so you are not kidding when you say your grammar is terrible!  Anyone can pick-up how to speak colloquial English for free, by watching movies, TV and listening to music.  The idea of paying for lessons is to have some proper training on the correct usage and structure of the language, innit?  However, if all that one needs is to know how to order a cup of coffee or ask directions to the bus station, then if you can find someone dumb enough to give you a paid job, good luck you.

PS (I edited my post because the original was unnecessarily patronising!)
