Angry
THese guys could have done this any other time of year.

I am supposed to fly with TAM from Salvador to Rio on the 24th connecting to American to Dallas two hours later.  This is the first time I have flown with TAM in three years and I may be screwed.  I'll call the American help desk to see if they can reroute via Miami to avoid the Brazilian Airline worker mess.

I hope they step down and strike after the high season.

The idea of a strike is to cause as much disruption as possible!

Right, the airlines are offering 6% but the union wants 12-15%. Congress just got 60% and so did the President and the Vice, so now it is open season in Brazil to demand wage increases. Every body talks about how hard it is to get a job but once in screw the employer and forget about the customers.

Happy holidays and a happy new year to the Airline workers who might just stay home and drive their employers into the ground.

If it's any consolation this isn't unique to Brazil..

We've (UK) had 4 days of London tube strikes over the past 3 months, British Airways personnel strike on a regular occurance, students are rioting every other week it seems, etc

At least you're not in France....

People thought I was crazy for booking bus tickets rather than a plane ticket for my 5hour trip.

Now Im very glad I did.

Those huge salary demands is killing this country.
But with prices going up like they do who can blame them?

Yeah, huge increases for everyone except the servidores públicos.  They say they don't want to give them a raise because they don't want to spend more money and then everyone except them gets a ridiculously huge raise.  Bastards.

So I just called American Airlines and after about ten minutes they told me all filghts are full and that they could call me back with a full flight fare for the 22nd, in the thousands for sure. So I told them I will cross my fingers and hope that the Union steps down for now.  We shall see. Luck to all those traveling on the 23rd and afterwards.Confused

Where can I find information regarding this strike? Does it affect all airlines?

I'm supposed to be flying Gol from my girlfriend's city (Manaus) to Belo Horizonte on 24th December. I have nothing against having to stay in Manaus a bit longer (I would quite like to spend more time with her) but finding accomodation at short notice at that time could be a problem I imagine.
