Hey guys,

I have been living in Brazil for about a year and a half and I like it but I really miss doing improv stuff with friends. I'm not an actress or comedian of any sort but I always had friends that I could depend upon to randomly take upon a Russian or Indian character and then act out some ridiculous scenario with me without even having to communicate our intent. I really, really, really, miss that!

So, if any of you are interested in either silly improv or serious drama or slam poetry or dramatic readings or anything somehow linked to putting on a show (even if its just for yourself), then please do reply to this thread so we can talk about how we might be able to get together and have some fun with acting!

Also, if you know of a group that already does this in English, then do let me know!!

some others I've watched lately and that I can recommend:

capitoes da areia (from Jorge Amado's book)
anjos do sol (about children prostitution)
dois perdidos numa noite suja (2 illegal brazilian immigrants in NYC)

For the Renato Russo movies, Somos tao jovens was nice but Faroeste Caboclo was an empty movie, there's much more in the 10 minutes' song.

I know this is not a Brazilian movie but it is a Brazilian themed movie.

The Senna documentary was amazing. You can catch it on Netflix.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but there's a brazilian documentary/film that is just mindblowing. It's about the history of the last century, but it's no ordinary production: it's speechless and formed by rare footages of events, combined with a superb (and I mean it) soundtrack. It has a poetic feel to it, and it's very emotional.

I'm not sure if I can post the link in here, but it's hard to find it online: Nós Que Aqui Estamos Por Vós Esperamos.

Even though it is speechless, there are some brief moments with texts on screen, so as they explain or quote something.
