Brazil‘s unemployment rate flat at 9.4% in July - IBGE

São Paulo, 25 - Brazil‘s unemployment rate stood at 9.4% of the workforce in July, unchanged from the previous month, the federal statistics bureau, known as IBGE, said Thursday.
This was in line with market forecasts, which ranged from 9.2% to 9.9%.
Unemployment is measured in Brazil‘s six main metropolitan areas: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Salvador and Recife.
Brazil‘s workforce totaled 19.8 million last month, stable from June but 2.3% bigger than in July last year.
The number of job seekers in July totaled 2.1 million, unchanged from the previous month and 15.6% lower than in July 2004.
Workers earned R$ 968.30 ($1 = R$ 2.44) on average in July, 2.5% more than in June. In a year-earlier comparison, earnings increased 1.6%.
